The holidays are approaching fast, unfortunetly, crime doesn’t take a break. To help our citizens stay safe, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office is providing tips for those moments when safety may be overlooked — specifically holiday shopping. As citizens dash to stores looking for the best deals, it’s also important to remain alert, and be cautious with your wallet and purse. Online shopping and peer-to-peer apps are continuing to grow in popularity, giving potential criminals new avenues to steal your money, possessions and confidential information. Remain safe online by using a secure Wi-Fi network, verifying the URL starts with http:// and ignoring unsolicited messages. Online shopping can also leave people vulnerable to another crime, package theft. This holiday season, protect yourself while shopping by brushing up on safety tips from PSO!
Time to Fall back! Daylight saving time ended Sunday, Nov. 3rd at 2 a.m. As you set your clocks back one hour, take the time to also complete a home safety evaluation. Pasco Sheriff’s Office provides a list of safety measures to review that will help deter crime and bring peace of mind. Additionally, days will get dark earlier and stay dark longer, presenting additional hazards. Remain alert to your surroundings, especially while driving. Park in a well-lit area when you arrive at your destination and remember to lock your car. Walk with people you trust at night and keep valuables, such as bags and phones, close to you when walking.
Animal-Assisted Therapy K9 Milo and his handler recently joined our community for a Fall Festival, where they had the opportunity to meet the wonderful people we serve and discuss the role of law enforcement. AAT K9 Milo was especially popular, bringing joy to everyone celebrating the season. These interactions are instrumental in enhancing community safety, as they help establish trust and open lines of communication with those we serve. We are grateful for the support we receive and are honored to serve this great community.
