Burglaries from unlocked cars are one of the most common calls we receive at the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, and they are largely preventable. With July being National Vehicle Theft Prevention Month, we’re highlighting our crime prevention initiative, the #9PMRoutine, a simple nightly reminder to remove valuables from your car and then lock your doors. PSO created the #9PMRoutine specifically to reduce auto burglaries in our area; however, the routine can also expand to include home security.
We encourage citizens to incorporate the #9PMRoutine into their daily lives. Crime prevention is a responsibility we all share and one that aligns with our motto: “We Fight As One.” It’s only by working together that we can create a safer Pasco County!
PSO Urges Safety While Scalloping
The 2025 Pasco County scalloping season runs from July 10 to Aug. 18 this year. Pasco Sheriff’s Office encourages those enjoying the season to stay safe when on or in the water. If you are planning to participate, please follow the tips below to stay safe.
- Check the latest weather forecast before leaving.
- File a float plan and tell someone where you are going.
- Ensure your boat has all safety essentials, such as permits, fire extinguisher and life jackets.
- Be patient while at boat ramps and launch sites, as they’re expected to be busy.
- Use caution and reduce speeds near diving flags and while in no wake zones.
- Stay hydrated. The combination of the sun and the rocking of the boat can cause fatigue.
- Do not drink and boat. Boating while intoxicated is illegal and the leading known contributing factor in fatal boating accidents

Pasco Sheriff’s Office recently had the pleasure of attending Cones with Cops at Dairy Queen! Our members enjoyed interacting with the community and helping serve ice cream. This event was also a fantastic opportunity to discuss the needs of Pasco County citizens and foster positive relationships. Thank you to those who attended, as well as Dairy Queen for inviting us to this fantastic event. We truly appreciate all the support and are honored to serve our community.
