Community Alert: Transmission of Harmful Material to a Minor

Pasco Sheriff’s Office has arrested Marco Ortega, Jr. (DOB: 5/28/2003) for transmission of harmful materials to a minor after receiving a report from a caregiver that Ortega sent an explicit image to a 14-year-old that lives outside of Florida. Ortega was previously arrested by the Pasco Sheriff’s Office for possession of child pornography in January 2024. The explicit image was sent by Ortega prior to his arrest for possession of child pornography.

This case also highlights the importance of parents and guardians remaining vigilant regarding who their children are communicating with online and on their phone.
