Community Alert: Suicide Threat, Spring Hill
Pasco Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of an individual expressing suicidal ideations to multiple individuals and Pasco County 911 in the Donavan Ct. area of Spring Hill this afternoon. The individual was located with a firearm outside and numerous attempts were made to de-escalate the situation through verbal engagement by multiple deputies.
During the interaction, after de-escalation was unsuccessful and the individual continued to possess the firearm, deputies shot two less-lethal shots and one lethal, with one less-lethal shot hitting the individual and the lethal shot missing the individual. The subject has minor injuries from the less-lethal and was taken into protective custody without further incident.
After reviewing the circumstances, FDLE permitted PSO to lead the investigation. There is no public safety threat. The deputy who fired the lethal round and missed has been placed on paid administrative leave pursuant to policy. The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.
