Community Alert: Deputy Involved shooting, New Port Richey
Pasco Sheriff’s Office deputies who were part of a United States Marshals Task Force were attempting to locate a subject for federal warrants. Upon deputies trying to pull over the suspect, a pursuit was initiated but shortly terminated by PSO. Deputies later located him in the area of River Ridge, and were involved in an officer-involved shooting while attempting to apprehend the subject. Area schools were briefly put on controlled campus status out of an abundance of caution. The subject is being transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. This is an isolated incident, and there is no public safety threat.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Sheriff Chris Nocco will be available today for a news conference at 4:30 p.m.
